Summer 2020

collage of programs

Greetings –

We recognize that COVID-19 pandemic has limited our ability to offer face-to-face programs and that’s challenging, but we hope it won’t affect the relationships we’ve built.

Our Extension faculty and staff are hard at work, helping communities with COVID-19 related challenges. We are effectively responding to the new challenges related to agriculture, food, health and sustainability. Extension educators are utilizing technology and mobilizing resources to help families, farmers, communities, and other stakeholders.

As we wrap up the summer, we will continue to adapt and conduct programs using all the tools available to us. In the meantime, our Extension educators are here for you, and continue serving our communities.

Best,

Indrajeet Chaubey, Dean and Director

On The Trail Podcast

On the Trail, sponsored by our Connecticut Trail Census program, is our new podcast. On the Trail is hosted by Neva Taylor, a UConn student and one of our summer interns. The podcast is all about topics both on, off, in and around trails in Connecticut. Come see what we learn “On the Trail.” New episodes are posted every Friday at 12PM. Neva also started a miniseries called Walk With Me where where we learn through listening to people of color's voices in the outdoor community. Listen to our podcast.

Meet Our Interns

UConn Extension had 22 summer interns working with us this summer on our programs related to our strategic initiatives: agriculture and food, climate, health, and sustainable landscapes. All interns are UConn students and worked remotely this summer on our projects including 4-H, community nutrition, entomology, community economic development, plant diagnostics, and other projects. You can meet all of our interns and learn more about the projects they completed.
